INTRODUCTION

Besides being primarily for my own pleasure, I would like to dedicate this site to all the “Old Time Piano Blues” lovers in the world and I wonder how many of you are out there ! If piano blues is not your thing just hit the “back button”, then again, why not have a look and a listen, who knows you might be pleasantly surprised !

After 45 years on stage in Holland and other European countries, solo, or with a band, I think the time has come to use my small pianoroom as a stage to the world. Why ? In the first place I am tired of carrying heavy equipment, leaving home in the early afternoon to beat peak hour traffic and getting back early the next morning, realizing that only a few people really listened etc., etc., in other words the downsides of being a working musician, that start to weigh a little heavier as time marches on and Hey, I’m not getting any younger ! As I take my music seriously, I tried to come up with an alternative and this website, together with the videos, is the result.

As for the music

I mean to bring you LIVE ( wrong notes and all ! ) music, straight from the heart, right here in my own piano room . So what can be more Downhome ? Just jump right in and join the House Party !

Some inspirational records;

The fifties Modern Downhome Sessions and the complete Magpie Piano Blues Series.
The International  Polydor Productions LP 423212 with the Paul Oliver Recordings of Sunnyland Slim and Little Brother Montgomery straight from Muddy Waters’ basement and from Jump Jacksons’ small garage cum-studio on La Salle.
1950: Little Son Willis recording of Howling Woman and finally,  my all time favourite: Riverside LP 8809 / Piano blues 1927 – 1933. And of course the whole Document DOCD 5000 series Etc, etc. Ruud van Ingen - February 2010

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

What will I be playing and singing for you on this website ?

Piano blues from the 1920’s – 1960’s
Rhythm & Blues – Boogie Woogie – gospelblues
I do not copy – but I like to make arrangements with the same old feeling!
